Teachers demonstrate in Thessaloniki for permanent jobs

State primary and secondary school teachers staged a demonstration in Thessaloniki on Friday, demanding permanent jobs for those on short-term contracts.

Following talks with unionists representing the protesting teachers, Education Minister Costas Gavroglou promised to hire permanent staff to schools in October, two months after Greece is set to emerge from its third international bailout.
