Croatian cabinet minister praises Ustasha terrorist

The unveiling of a monument honoring Croatian Ustasha terrorist Miro Baresic has been attended by two Croatian ministers, the N1 broadcaster has reported.

Baresic was jailed in Sweden in 1971 for the murder of Yugoslav Ambassador in Stockholm Vladimir Rolovic. Baresic was killed 25 years ago, during the war in Croatia.

Borisov, Tsipras in Joint Bulgaria-Greece Govt Meeting

Six Greek ministers and two deputy ministers are attending an intergovernmental meeting with Bulgarian cabinet members in Sofia alongside the two countries' prime ministers on Monday.

Greece's PM Alexis Tsipras is on a visit to Bulgaria on Monday.

Prosecutors' union hits out against threats linked to Noor 1 trial

The union representing Greek judges and prosecutors on Monday issued a statement, declaring that the vigor and morale of judicial officials would not be overcome by threats.

The statement followed an incident involving two burly men who threatened the mother of appeals court prosecutor Maria Troupi who has been involved in the case of the Noor 1 heroin smuggling ship.

Syrian arrested for attempting to bring 9 Trinidadians to ISIL

A court in the southern province of Adana ordered the arrest of a Syrian citizen on Aug. 1 for transferring nine Trinidadian citizens to Syria to join the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) jihadist group.

Russian 5-crew helicopter shot down over Syria

A Russian Mi-8 helicopter has been shot down by ground fire in Syria following delivery of humanitarian supplies to Aleppo, the Defense Ministry said in a statement. The three crew and two officers from Russia’s reconciliation centre were returning to base. The condition of those on board has yet to be established, the ministry said.

A ban on Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan holding a speech via videoconference at a pro-democracy rally in Germany's Cologne on July 31 has sparked a fresh row between the two countries. 

Ankara summons German diplomat over ban on Erdoğan's videoconference at Cologne rally

The charge d'affaires at the German Embassy was summoned to the Foreign Ministry on Aug. 1 over the ban on President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan's participation via videoconference at a rally in Cologne, Foreign Ministry sources have confirmed.

The charge d'affaires is expected to meet relevant diplomats at the Foreign Ministry headquarters in the afternoon hours.
