Stylianides to observe new ACS program for refugee children

On Saturday European Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Christos Stylianides will visit the ACS Athens campus to observe the school's Youth-to-Youth educational and social integration program in action, meet with young refugees and talk to volunteer teachers and ACS students.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu arrived in Bulgaria at the invitation of the Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borissov. A one-to-one meeting started between the two at 18.00on 1st of November in Euxinograd residence, in Bulgaria's Black Sea coastal city of Varna, reports BNT. 

BFSA Tightens Control over Poultry Farms in Bulgaria

The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) said it has implemented a programme for enhanced observation of poultry farms in connection with the latest cases of bird flu. The measures include biosecurity in farms, more frequent laboratory control and prevention across the country. Birds could be transported only after laboratory tests, reports Focus News Agency.

Adoptions in Greece on the rise

There were 393 registered adoptions in 2017, marking a 77.8 percent rise compared to 2016, when there were 221, according to Greek statistics agency ELSTAT.

The largest increase was recorded in the area including the Aegean islands and Crete, with a 93.8 percent rise.

Attica couple tried to sell Byzantine coins

A married couple, both 45, were arrested in Attica on Thursday on charges of trying to sell illegally owned coins dating to the Byzantine era over the internet.

Authorities were led to the couple after police in the northern port city of Thessaloniki on Wednesday seized three parcels containing five coins which arrived at a courier's office.
