Thessaloniki also known as Thessalonica, Salonika or Salonica, is the second-largest city in Greece and the capital of the region of Macedonia. Greeks consider it like συμπρωτεύουσα (the associated-capital) of the Northern Greece. Indeed, Thessaloniki was already the largest city of the Byzantine Empire after Constantinople.

16-year-old charged with alleged rape of 13-year-old in Thessaloniki
A 16-year-old boy was arrested Tuesday for allegedly raping a 13-year-old girl in the northern city of Thessaloniki.
Police said the girl filed a complaint at the Lagkada Police Station, stating the boy sexually assaulted her in an abandoned building last Monday.
The boy will be brought before a criminal prosecutor.

Armed robbery outside Thessaloniki convenience store
An armed robbery occurred outside a convenience store in the northern port city of Thessaloniki on Monday afternoon.
At around 2.10 p.m., a suspect struck a delivery driver with a gun handle, stole an undisclosed amount of cash and fled.
Police are searching for the suspect.

Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrysochoidis, addressed the issue of juvenile delinquency, efforts to combat organized crime, and measures to reduce traffic violations.
