One of the generals interned at the General Staff Headquarters during the coup attempt on July 15 is a well-known name to the public: Brig. Gen. Ertuğrulgazi Özkürkçü, the head of the Press and Public Relations Department.

The condition and most importantly the lack of enough servicemen in the Special Forces and the Army, is very disturbing, said in an interview for Radio Focus general Kircho Kirov, who was chief of the National intelligence agency between 2003 and 2012.

The Special Forces of the Hellenic Coast Guard stopped and boarded on a ship trying to smuggle cigarettes of a huge total money value.

In the coup attempt case regarding the General Staff Headquarters, the defendants have denied everything to the judge. But they could not explain the camera records, and they answered some questions illogically and quite strangely, triggering reactions from the public. 

The army received two key pieces of intelligence on November 2015 and February 2016 about a possible upcoming coup attempt, Orhan Yıkılgan, the former top aide to Chief of General Staff Gen. Hulusi Akar, has testified in his defense, claiming that it was a "strategic mistake to not take necessary measures"

A Turkish soldier was killed during a clash with outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants in the Black Sea province of Trabzon on May 15, Doğan News Agency has reported.

The clash occurred in the Karaağaç village in Trabzon's Maçka district early on May 15. 

PKK militants opened fire during search works of a team from Trabzon's Provincial Gendarmerie Command.

A top aide to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan hinted Wednesday that U.S. commandos in northern Syria could be targeted by Turkish rockets if they continue to work with Kurdish fighters along the border with Turkey.

To the casual observer, the scene might’ve looked like an odd cross between a reenactment of a past war and a demonstration of a future conflict.

Special Forces Commander Gen. Zekai Aksakallı, as a witness in the case regarding the shooting of noncommissioned officer Ömer Halisdemir, said the first measure to be taken in a crisis in the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) is to give the order, "No personnel to leave the barracks!"

The failed July 2016 coup would have been revealed immediately if personnel had been ordered to stay in their military barracks on that day, Special Forces Commander Lt. Gen. Zekai Aksakallı has said in his testimony as a witness into the killing of anti-coup soldier Ömer Halisdemir, who has been idolized for his actions during a raid on the Special Forces Command in Ankara.
