Turkish commander to testify as witness in case for murder of soldier who resisted coup attempt

A court has ruled for Special Forces Commander Lt. Gen. Zekai Aksakallı to testify as a witness in the case into the killing of anti-coup soldier Ömer Halisdemir, who has been idolized for his resistance during a raid on the Special Forces Command in Ankara. 

442 arrested in terror operations in Turkey in last week: Interior Ministry

Some 442 people were arrested in terror operations conducted in just the last week around Turkey, the Interior Ministry has announced. 

According to the ministry, drugs worth some 11 million Turkish liras were also confiscated in operations that were carried out between Jan. 2 and 9.

Enhanced Security Measures Introduced Along Bulgaria's Borders, Military Sites

Increased security measures have been introduced along Bulgaria's borders and at military sites, announced the chief of defence General Konstantin Popov at Novo Selo. The final stage of the multi-national military training exercise Platinum Lion took place there on Tuesday. The exercise was observed by the ambassadors of the USA, Albania, Moldova, Montenegro, Serbia and Ukraine.

Court accepts first Ankara indictment against coup attempt activities

Eighteen suspects involved in a deadly raid on Gölbaşı Special Forces Commandership in Ankara on the night of the July 15 coup attempt, believed to have been orchestrated by the Gülen movement, face multiple sentences of aggravated life imprisonment after an indictment was accepted on Dec. 1.
