In Serbia every 5th individual jobless

In the first month of 2014 even 42,771 jobless people have registered them with the National Employment Service. That is almost 2,000 people more than in December last year.

Annual inflation rate in 2014 "to be around 4 percent"

BELGRADE -- On average, inflation in Serbia should stand at about four percent annually, which corresponds to the inflation target of the National Bank of Serbia (NBS).

This is according to the NBS Inflation Report for February 2014, presented on Thursday.

Social and Economic Council without decision on minimum wage

BELGRADE - The Social and Economic Council of Serbia did not deliver a decision on a minimum wage on Friday due to opposing stances of employers and trade unions, the Serbian government's press office has announced.

BELGRADE - The National Bank of Serbia (NBS) Executive Board decided on Thursday to keep the key policy rate at the same level - 9.5 percent.

LAZAREVAC - Serbia's First Deputy Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday that the solidarity tax will remain in place for all those working in the public sector.

I do not want to make any promises and say that the tax will be abolished straight after the (early parliamentary) elections, Vucic told reporters while touring the Kolubara mining basin.

BELGRADE - The National Bank of Serbia (NBS) foreign exchange (FX) reserves amounted to EUR 11,126.4 million at end-January, covering M1 by 359 percent or more than seven months of imports of goods and services.
