A dramatic finale for a story that the whole of Greece has been following with baited breath for over a month.
Around 08:30 am local, as revealed by protothema.gr, Police finally discovered the body of Vangelis Yakoumakis, who disappeared around a month ago from the Dairy School of Ioannina where he was studying.

Search by divers in Pamvotida Lake finds no sign of missing student
A search operation conducted on Saturday by divers in Pamvotida Lake in Ioannina, northwestern Greece, failed to produce any evidence with regard to the disappearance of student Vangelis Giakoumakis (photo).
The 20-year-old, who was enrolled at the city?s Dairy School, was last seen walking into Ioannina city center on February 6.

Large number of vols respond to search for missing student
The family of a 20-year-old college student continued searching for man who went missing 22 days ago outside the northwest city of Ioannina.
Vangelis Giakoumakis, who hails from Crete, was enrolled in an agriculture program at a state-run tertiary institute south of the city when he disappeared.

The family of 20-year-old student, Vangelis Giakoumakis, from Crete is searching for the young man who went missing from his home 21 days ago. Giakoumakis was a student at the Dairy School of Ioannina, capital of Epirus in north-western Greece.

Search for student missing since February 6 intensifies
Police officers from Thessaloniki on Wednesday wrapped up a probe to collect evidence in connection to the disappearance of 22-year-old Vangelis Giakoumis from Ioannina, where he was studying, on February 6.
Ioannina businessman arrested on tax evasion charges
A 63-year-old man in Ioannina, northwestern Greece, faced a prosecutor on Wednesday in connection with debts to the state estimated at 20 million euros.
According to sources, the suspect is a businessman trading in precious stones.
Gems trader arrested for 20-mln-euros in debts to state
A 63-year-old precious gems dealer was arrested on Wednesday outside the northwestern city of Ioannina for outstanding debts to the state worth more than 20 million euros.
According to police, the merchant was arrested for the continuing non-payment of state debts.
Following his arrest, the suspect was led before an Ioannina prosecutor.
Almost 400 buildings damaged by floods in Epirus
Experts on Wednesday continued assessing the damage done by flash floods in Epirus, northwestern Greece, over the last few days.
By Wednesday afternoon they had recorded damage to 329 buildings, 229 of which are homes, in Arta. Another 43 buildings, of which 16 are homes, were damaged in Ioannina.

Low temperatures in Greece expected to drop further from Sunday
While strong, icy winds and snowstorms abated in most parts of the country on Friday, giving way to sunny skies, temperatures remained at unusually low levels and are expected to plummet further as of Sunday night, meteorologists have warned.
