Air passenger traffic in Slovenia up by 46% last year

Ljubljana – Air passenger traffic in Slovenia recovered last year from the shock caused by the Covid-19 pandemic, with the three international airports in the country serving a total of 419,300 passengers or 46% more than in 2020. The lion’s share represented passengers served by the Ljubljana airport.

Writer and politician Tavčar’s home to become medical and tourism centre

Visoko – The Visoko Manor, once home to Slovenian author, politician and Ljubljana mayor Ivan Tavčar (1851-1923), is being renovated with plans to set up a rehabilitation centre and secure tourist accommodation to revive the local economy and enable higher-quality tourist services in the region around the town of Škofja Loka, north-west.

Ljubljana tourism figures up in 2021, still below pre-Corona level

Ljubljana – Slovenia’s capital Ljubljana recorded just over 415,000 tourist arrivals last year, an increase of almost 63% compared to the year before but more than 60% below the pre-Covid 2019, show figures by Tourism Ljubljana.

The statistics for nights show a similar picture: almost 867,000 stays were recorded, up 60% over the year before but 61% lower than in the record year 2019.

Sports associations urged to boycott events in Russia, Belarus

Ljubljana – The Slovenian Olympic Committee on Saturday called on all sports associations to refrain from participating in competitions organised in Russian and Belarus, after International Olympic Committee president Thomas Bach called for a boycott of competitions in the two countries.
