Large quantity of 'Jihadist' pills seized at Piraeus port

Greek authorities have launched an investigation in cooperation with their Turkish counterparts after customs officials at Piraeus port on Monday found a large quantity of fenethylline pills - also known as the "Jihadist's" drug - in a container ship.

The vessel had docked at Piraeus on its way from Syria to Dubai.

Syrian freighter drug haul worth more than 100 mln euros

Greece has seized drugs worth more than 100 million euros ($113 million) after intercepting a Syrian ship sailing for Libya, the coast guard said on Friday.

Officials found about six tonnes of processed cannabis and 3 million super-strength "Captagon" amphetamine pills hidden aboard the Syrian-flagged "Noka", it said in a statement.

Gendarme arrested for dealing drugs

The suspect is 37-year-old M.V., a member of the Zandarmerija (Gendarmerie) unit of the Serbian Interior Ministry.

The police found 510 MDMA tablets and 5,000 euros in cash in M.V.'s possession during the arrest.

A small amount of marijuana was also found in his car, along with a precision scale that had traces of heroin and cocaine.

Material for the Production of Amphetamines Worth around EUR 0.5 Billion was Detained at Varna Port

The precursor substance detained on Friday, 25 May, in Varna, could have been used for amphetamine production worth 500 million euros. This was stated by Deputy Director of Customs Agency Julian Mirkov, who said that on the black market a kilogram of the substance is used to produce 10,000 tablets at a price of about 20 euros.

A police investigation has shed light into a clash between drug and arms dealers and anarchists in the central Athens neighborhood of Exarchia, Kathimerini has learned. 

Meanwhile 29 Greek and Albanian nationals are to face charges in the wake of a major police crackdown in the area. 

Colombia Navy Seizes 5 Tons of Cocaine Near Border with Panama

The Colombian navy said Tuesday it has seized a massive shipment of cocaine in the northwest of Colombia.

According to the navy, 5.2 metric tons of the illicit drugs were found in a shipment of bananas in a port in the Uraba region after a tip from the Police.

The bananas were meant to be shipped to Europe.
