Chinese corporation wishes to open three industrial zones

PROKUPLJE - The Chinese electrical power corporation Sinomach-CNEEC-CNEETC is interested in opening three industrial zones in Serbia in which it could invest EUR 1 billion each, the corporation representatives said on Tuesday at the meeting with Serbian Minister of of Natural Resources, Mining and Spatial Planning Milan Bacevic.

Together with representatives of the Chinese company which produces energy, mining, engineering and other equipment, Bacevic visited the Prokuplje industrial zone in southern Serbia as one of the three potential sites.

In a statement for reporters, the minister noted that the consortium of the Chinese corporation is looking to procure 60-100 hectares of land and it is willing to invest in the public utility infrastructure of the future industrial zone.

Representative of the Prokuplje municipality stated at the meeting that they want Chinese investors to come to the area and added that they will offer three potential sites.

Bacevic said that the Chinese capital would be invested in food industry, fruit and vegetable processing and geothermal energy.

Prokuplje was picked as one of the sites for the industrial zone because it holds major investment potentials, Bacevic said.

Regional Director of the Chinese corporation Ni Weihong underscored that the investment in the industrial zones will be a direct Chinese investment.

It aims to launch the inflow of major Chinese investments in Serbia and bring around ten big multinational companies to the industrial zones, he said.
