Cooperation in region for better results in tourism

BOR - Tourist organisations in the Western Balkan region need to improve their cooperation so that the tourist economies of their countries could achieve better results, Director of the National Tourism Organisation of Serbia (TOS) Gordana Plamenac stated.

At the fifth annual Travel Forum which began at Bor Lake in eastern Serbia late on Thursday, Plamenac said that the event needs to gather businessmen, representatives of NGOs in the tourism sector and tourist organisations from the entire region.

”Only by joint work and presentation can be achieve even better results,” Plamenac said.

She recalled that in 2013, Serbia recorded USD 1 billion worth of foreign currency revenues from the visits by foreign tourists alone, noting that the opening of new hotels contributed to this greatly, as well as the fact that young people are increasingly inclined to travelling around Serbia thanks to the internet and social networks.

Director of the YUTA national association of travel Aleksandar Senicic underscored that gatherings such as the Travel Forum in Bor are very important because they contribute, among other things, to the improvement of the offer in recreational tourism.

This year's Travel Forum will feature workshops to educate representatives of local tourist agencies and enable them to present their offer by means of digital media and apply for projects funded by the EU.
