Romania can and must become region justice expertise provider (JusMin Cazanciuc)

Romania can and must become a provider of expertise on justice matters in the region, since it has proved it is capable of building extremely efficient institutions and implementing an entirely new legislative system, Justice Minister Robert Cazanciuc said during a visit paid to Turkey on Thursday and Friday.

According to a ministry release to AGERPRES on Friday, the minister paid the working visit on an invitation of Turkish counterpart Bekir Bozdag and it included meetings with the State Council president, the Court of Cassation president, representatives for the High Council of Judges and Prosecutors and the Directorate General of the Penitentiaries and Detention Places.

The talks focused on the reforms currently undergone by the Romanian and Turkish justice systems, the management of penitentiaries and aspects relating the fight against corruption and the judicial cooperation on civil and criminal matters.

'Romania has very important experience in legislative reform, with the successful enforcement of the four new Codes in a very short time being unique in Europe. Romania can and must become a provider of expertise in the region since we have areas in the judicial sector in which we have proved we are capable of building extremely efficient institutions or working out and implementing an entirely new legislative system. We have very good cooperation relations, in the justice sector included and Romania backs the Republic of Turkey's moves to join the European Union.
