Prime Minister Victor Ponta cast his vote in the elections to the European Parliament at Elementary School No 17 of Bucharest, on Sunday, accompanied by wife Daciana Sarbu and daughter Irina.

'Those wanting to show their involvement in Europe and Romania will certainly come to vote. I expect, as any other voter coming to vote both in Romania and all over Europe today, that changes after 10 years will be for the better so that we may make right everything that went wrong over the past few years. 2014 is the year of all changes,' Ponta said.

When asked if he was anxious about the ballot today, seen by some as without any stake, Ponta answered: 'Absolutely! There are no elections without a stake and the stake is huge each time. For a mayoralty, for Parliament, for the European Parliament, how can it be without any stake? It is a huge stake, it is particularly important who will run Europe over the next five years, who will run Romania. It is also very important for those who do not cast their votes, so much more for those who vote.'

The Prime Minister added that on Sunday he planned to stay with his family and then go to the Social Democrat Party's headquarters in the afternoon.
