Ponta tells Schulz: We've done our duty in European elections

AGERPRES special correspondent Doroteea Purcarea reports: Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta told the European Parliament President Martin Schulz on Tuesday that the Romanian Socialists have 'done their duty' in Sunday's European elections.

'We've done our duty', Ponta, who heads the Social Democrat Party (PSD), told Schulz.

The prime minister is attending the meeting of the heads of states and governments who are members of the Party of European Socialists in Brussels.

He was accompanied by MEP Corina Cretu and he asked PES leader Sergey Stanishev to congratulate her for having been top of the PSD list of candidates in the Euro-polls.

The PES heads of states and governments meet to lay the groundwork for the informal European Council to begin in Brussels later in the day.AGERPRES
