Gasic, Stefanini discuss future defence cooperation

BELGRADE - Serbian Defence Minister Bratislav Gasic and National Armaments Director of the Italian Defence Ministry Enzo Stefanini have agreed that relations between the two countries are traditionally friendly with a high level of defence cooperation.

Gasic and Stefanini said on Thursday that the focus of the cooperation is on training and education, training of special forces and bomb disposal teams, as well as on air forces, intelligence and reconnaissance activities and military medical cooperation.

They noted that boosting bilateral military economic cooperation is in the interest of both countries, the Serbian Defence Ministry said in a statement.

Bilateral defence consultations, scheduled to take place in Rome at the end of the year, will contribute to defining the guidelines for further cooperation and to an agreement on a plan for bilateral defence cooperation for 2015, Gasic and Stefanini concluded at the meeting.
