Nikolic posthumously awards helicopter crew

BELGRADE - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic posthumously awarded the crew of military helicopter and medical workers who died in a crash near the Belgrade airport on March 13 while rescuing a baby whose life was in danger, Nikolic's office told Tanjug on Wednesday.

The president decorated the helicopter pilots and health care workers with the Medal of Milos Obilic, awarded for exceptional bravery, at a session of the Commission on Decorations held early Wednesday.

Pilots Major Omer Mehic and Captain Milovan Djukaric, Ensign Nebojsa Trajic, flight engineer Ensign Ivan Miladinovic, doctor Dzevad Ljajic, anaesthesiologist Miroslav Veselinovic and the five-day-old baby from Novi Pazar all died in the crash.
