The return of ‘Quartet’ to Athens still unclear

Next week’s Eurogroup meeting is expected to give a hint on when the representatives of institutions will visit again Athens so as to continue the negotiations, since during the first round of talks no progress was recorded.

The major issues are still open, while there is a huge gap between the views of Greece’s lenders and the Greek government.

Despite the difference of opinion recorded between the two sides, the government claims that it is feasible to conclude the negotiations on time referring to European Commission Vice-President Valdis Dombrovskis who said that the talks between Greek authorities and the institutions were “constructive”.

Over the next few days it is possible Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to take political initiatives in order to overcome any reactions and pressures on social security reforms issue.
