Stefanovic, Tudorache sign protocol on cooperation

TIMISOARA - Serbian Minister of Interior Nebojsa Stefanovic and his Romanian counterpart Dragos Tudorache on Thursday signed a protocol on cooperation of the two ministries on the establishment and activities of joint patrols along the common state border.

Stefanovic explained the document envisions forming joint patrols of Serbian and Romanian police forces, improving cooperation in the fight against all cross-border crime and establishing a system of efficient border control and surveillance.

Stefanovic stressed that border protection is one of the most important aspects of the defense against illegal migration and cross-border crime, especially human trafficking accompanying migration.

Before signing the protocol, the two ministers spoke about cooperation on European integration as well as border security, an Interior Ministry statement said.
