Turkey planning military drills off Cyprus on Sunday

Ankara on Friday issued a navigational telex, or Navtex, reserving a section of Cyprus's exclusive economic zone, off the island's coast, for a military exercise on Sunday involving live ammunition, it has emerged.

The move by Ankara came just a few hours after a decision by the Cypriot government to designate another three offshore blocks ahead of plans for gas exploration in the coming weeks.
