ATHEX: Stocks rise 1.14 pct over week

Mid-caps pushed the benchmark higher at the end of the week on what was a day of mixed fortunes for blue chips. Judging from the low turnover, many foreign investors decided to take the day after Thanksgiving off too.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index ended at 723.18 points, adding 0.36 percent to Thursday's 720.56 points. On a weekly basis it grew 1.14 percent.

The large-cap FTSE-26 index contracted 0.07 percent to close at 1,880.74 points, while mid-caps rose 3.74 percent on the Hygeia Group's gains of 30 percent.

The banks index increased 0.79 percent, with National jumping 2.53 percent, Eurobank grabbing 1.97 percent and Alpha dropping 0.69 percent. Ellaktor decreased 3.27 percent as Sarantis improved 3.68 percent.

In total 65 stocks went up, 40 took losses and 18 stayed put.
