PM Dancila welcomes Turkey's Ambassador Osman Koray Ertas; Romania-Turkey bilateral relation on agenda

Prime Minister Viorica Dancila welcomed on Wednesday, at the Victoria Palace, Turkey's Ambassador to Romania Osman Koray Ertas, on a courtesy visit, a release of the Government sent to AGERPRES informs.

According to the quoted source, the central topic of the two officials' discussions was the relationship between Romania and Turkey, considering that 140 years of bilateral relations are to be celebrated in 2018. Furthermore, within the meeting, there was reconfirmed both parties' commitment to strengthening the bilateral relation, based on a strategic partnership with an emphasis on deepening the economic and sectorial cooperation.

"Prime Minister Dancila voiced satisfaction that Turkey represents Romania's first extra-community partner and in 2017 the volume of bilateral exchanges exceeded, as a first, the threshold of 5 billion euros," the release mentions.

Furthermore, the Romanian PM appreciated that the resumption of the Joint Inter-governmental Committee for Economic Cooperation, in early May in Ankara, will bring added value to the strategic partnership between Romania and Turkey. In this context, the two officials mentioned the bilateral sectorial cooperation in areas such as energy, information and communication technology, innovation and research.

Moreover, there was hailed the very good level of military cooperation inside NATO, but also at the police level, including the perspective of fighting illegal migration, according to the EU-Turkey Statement of 18 March 2016, the release also mentions.
