The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and Turkey's Ministry of National Education lead the project - Increasing Employability for Syrians and Turkish Host Community Members in the Renewable Energy Sector.

Five provinces: Konya, Bursa, Kocaeli, Mersin and Hatay were chosen for the establishment of renewable energy laboratories, all of which will have considerable renewable energy potential and a high number of Syrian refugees.

The Republic of Korea is funding the project with a total of $2.2 million, with additional funding allocated for 2022 of $500,000 to reach wider recipients and provinces, in addition to $1.7 million given in 2019 and 2020.

The program covers a curriculum of 247 hours in the manufacture, installation and maintenance of equipment and systems in power plants using renewable energy in the selected provinces.

A minimum of 500 Syrians under temporary protection and Turkish host community members, who at least a quarter are women, hope to complete the program that runs until April next year. The participants who complete the program will receive a course completion certificate from the Ministry of National Education Directorate-General for Life-Long Learning.
