Albanian Wins Prestigious Prize for Young Fashion Designers

London-based Albanian fashion designer Nensi Dojaka won one of the most prestigious prizes in the fashion industry, the 2021 LVMH prize for emerging talent in fashion design, at a glittering awards ceremony in Paris.

French actor Isabelle Huppert revealed the winner's name on Tuesday in the presence of jury members including Kim Jones of Dior, Virgil Abloh of Louis Vuitton, Stella McCartney, Marc Jacobs, and Loewe artistic director Jonathan Anderson.

Saying she "felt shellshocked" at winning, Dojaka said she was "also delighted because I have a vision of femininity I want to share with the world.

"I love female bodies… I think my little black dress did as well as it did this year because people feel excited to go out and celebrate again. They want to feel sexy and chic." Dojaka said, according to the New York Times.

Dojaka's black minidress joined the most internationally well known brands such as Bottega Veneta, Prada, and Hermes by ranking in the Lyst Index's hottest products of 2021Ms.

Dojaka, 28, is known for depicting the female nature through layers of mesh fabrics which show both the fragility and strength of women's bodies.

She graduated from London's Central Saint Martins college and started her line in 2017, while still in her studies.

The designer was among nine finalists selected from 1,900 applicants, and will receive 300,000 euros as well as a year of mentoring from professionals.

Her dresses have been worn by celebrities such as Bella Hadid and Emily Ratajkowski.

Later in September, Dojaka, will participate at the London Fashion Week, which will be her fourth runway collection.
