Number of confirmed coronavirus cases tops 1,000 on Friday

Ljubljana – Slovenia’s daily coronavirus count increased to 1,005 on Friday after it dropped below 1,000 on Thursday, to 941, after hoovering considerably over 1,000 three consecutive days. Yesterday’s figure is meanwhile over 19% below that from a week ago. The number of hospitalisations dropped below 400 this morning.

The positivity rate was 18.2%, a percentage point up from Thursday, show data released by the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ) on Saturday.

The number of active cases is estimated to have fallen by 86 to 13,588.

The 7-day average case count fell by 34 from Thursday to 893 and the cumulative 14-day incidence per 100,000 residents by three to 642, NIJZ data also shows.

The number of hospitalisations dropped by 22 to 382, of whom 104 are in intensive care, on a par with yesterday. Six patients died.

The youngest Covid-19 patient in hospital is 24 and the youngest one in intensive care 27.

As many as 62% of Slovenian residents aged at least 18 have been vaccinated with one jab and 56% have been fully immunised.
