The SJC Submits to the President Today its Decision to Appoint a New Attorney General

The Supreme Judicial Council will send its decision on the election of a new chief prosecutor to President Rumen Radev, who must confirm the candidacy with a decree.

With 20 votes in favor and 4 against, Ivan Geshev was approved as the new Attorney General by the Plenum of the Supreme Judicial Council.

The Supreme Judicial Council Approved Ivan Geshev as Attorney General

The Supreme Judicial Council approved the nomination of Ivan Geshev as the next Attorney General. Twenty members of the Supreme Judicial Council voted in favour, four were against.

After the vote, Ivan Geshev was brief in his speech and thanked those who voted for him.

With 24 votes in favour, the SJC proposes to the President to issue a decree appointing Ivan Geshev.

The Lawyers Bar Association in Plovdiv has issued a statement in which it strongly disagrees with the views expressed in a television interview by Ivan Geshev on the separation of powers, BNR reported.

Bulgarian SJC Reinstated Former Head of Anti-corruption Commission as Prosecutor

The prosecutors' college in the Supreme Judicial Council on August 5 reinstated the former head of the of the Counter-Corruption and Unlawfully Acquired Assets Forfeiture Commission (CCUAAFC) Plamen Georgiev to the post of prosecutor. The reinstatement was supported by all participants in the extraordinary meeting, which lasted 3 minutes, reports BNT.
