A crucial day for the election of a new Attorney General. The Supreme Judicial Council will hear the only candidate for the post - the current deputy of Sotir Tsatsarov - Ivan Geshev.

Prosecutor General Sotir Tsatsarov, his deputy Ivan Geshev, as well as the heads of the SANS Dimitar Georgiev, the National Intelligence Service Atanas Atanasov and the Military Information Service Velko Atanasov were also admitted to the White House.

The Lawyers Bar Association in Plovdiv has issued a statement in which it strongly disagrees with the views expressed in a television interview by Ivan Geshev on the separation of powers, BNR reported.

The prosecutors' college in the Supreme Judicial Council on August 5 reinstated the former head of the of the Counter-Corruption and Unlawfully Acquired Assets Forfeiture Commission (CCUAAFC) Plamen Georgiev to the post of prosecutor. The reinstatement was supported by all participants in the extraordinary meeting, which lasted 3 minutes, reports BNT. 

Another protest against the nomination of Ivan Geshev, nominated by all 11 members of the Prosecutorial Board of the Supreme Judicial Council last Monday, gathered hundreds in front of the court building.

Deputy Prosecutor-General Ivan Geshev remains the only Supreme Judicial Council (SJC) nomination for Prosecutor General, BGNES reported. According to Justice Minister Danail Kirilov, only one nomination is a historic event.

The Prosecutor's College of the Supreme Judicial Council elected Dimitar Petrov as the head of the Specialised Prosecutor's Office. So far, Petrov was the deputy head of the Specialised Prosecutor's office.

The Supreme Judicial Council meets at a last meeting before the summer vacation. The deadline for nominations for a Chief Public Prosecutor also expires today. Following the unanimous nomination of Ivan Geshev, only the Minister of Justice can offer another candidate by law.

Supreme Court of Cassation (SCC) chairman Lozan Panov believes there is a risk that the election of the Chief Prosecutor will remain with only one nomination after yesterday the entire Prosecutor's College of the Supreme Judicial Council (YSC) raised Ivan Geshev.
