SNS receives most media coverage, ahead of DS, NDS

BELGRADE - The coalition gathered around the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) received the most coverage in news broadcasts on televisions across Serbia - 20.16 percent, ahead of the coalition led by the Democratic Party (DS) with 16.51 percent, and the one gathered around Boris Tadic and his New Democratic Party (NDS) with 14.05 percent, the Republic Broadcasting Agency (RRA) stated in a report.

According to the RRA data, the fourth-ranked coalition SPS-PUPS-JS accounted for 11.7, and the fifth Liberal Democratic Party for 8.99 percent of the media coverage.

The Democratic Party of Serbia appears as sixth on this list, with 8.58 percent of news reports, followed by Mladjan Dinkic and the United Regions of Serbia (URS) with 7.31 percent.

All other slates have accounted for less than four percent of the media coverage each.

Most news broadcasts on RTS 1 focused on SNS (20.52 percent), NDS (15.38 percent), DS (13.37 percent), SPS-PUPS-JS (12.90 percent), DSS (10.82 percent), and URS (9.88 percent).

According to RRA, the greatest disproportion was reported at the Happy TV, where NDS with 28.91 percent and DS with 25.57 percent had a five times larger share in the election coverage compared to SNS with 4.93 percent.

As for other national broadcasters, TV Pink reported on SNS three times more than on DS (32.53-10.58 percent), while TV B92's coverage of SNS activities was three times stronger compared to NDS (25.65-8.42 percent).

On TV Prva, the share of election coverage concerning LDP (25.24 percent) and NDS (24.72 percent) was twice as large as the one relating to SNS (12.46 percent).
