Injured NIS workers not in life-threatening condition

BELGRADE - Six workers of Naftna Industrija Serbije (NIS), who were injured by a blast during seismic testing in Kasidol, the municipality of Pozarevac, are not in a life-threatening condition, NIS stated on Wednesday.

The environment is not damaged and there are no ecological consequences. The incident happened during the exploration geophysics works that involve the use of explosives, the statement reads.

The company and authorized bodies are carrying out a detailed investigation and determining all facts relating to the explosion.

"The explosion occurred at 12.30 p.m. for reasons that remain unknown for the time being, and one of the workers is seriously injured," Tanjug was told at the Serbian Interior Ministry.

The ministry also said that four workers sustained minor injuries, and that all relevant teams are at the site.
