Upon exiting the polling booth on Sunday, MEP Corina Cretu said she voted for a strong Romania and a Europe that is closer to the citizens' needs.

'I have chosen to vote here in Cluj, in Transylvania. First of all, we voted for a strong Romania in a strong Europe that is as close to the needs of the citizens as possible, so that it may overcome the times of austerity that have generated so much suffering, where the most important decisions will regard economic growth, new jobs creation and the fight against poverty and unemployment. I believe it is very important for the people to understand that we, in the European Parliament, vote more than 70 per cent of the laws being today applied in Romania, and Romania's citizens will today decide to whom the 32 seats in the European Parliament allocated to Romania go,' said Cretu.

She is topping the list of MEP candidates of the PSD-UNPR-PC Alliance of the Social Democratic Party, the National Union for Romania's Progress and the Conservative Party, all currently at rule.
