Serbian films at festival in San Sebastian

BELGRADE - The upcoming San Sebastian International Film Festival will be screening several Serbian films as part of its thematic retrospective "Eastern Promises" section.

The renowned film festival in San Sebastian is being held for the 62nd time, on September 19-27. "Eastern Promises. Portrait of Eastern Europe in 50 films" is the title of one of the festivals' retrospectives that will look at movies produced since 2000 and dealing with events in countries under post-World War II communist influence over the 25 years since the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989.

The selection includes the following films produced in Serbia: "The Life and Death of a Porno Gang" (Zivot i smrt porno bande) by director Mladen Djordjevic, "Circles" (Krugovi) by Srdan Golubovic, "Tomorrow Morning" (Sutra ujutru) by Oleg Novkovic and "Death of a Man in the Balkans" (Smrt coveka na Balkanu) by Miroslav Momcilovic.

Also screened will be films where Serbia was one of the co-producers, namely, Macedonian "Punk is not dead" (Pankot ne e mrtov) by Vladimir Blazevski and a co-production by several European countries, "Lost and Found" (Izgubljeno-nadjeno), an omnibus in which one of the stories is signed by Serbian director Stefan Arsenijevic.
