Average household income in Serbia totals RSD 55,280

BELGRADE - The average monthly income per household in Serbia totalled RSD 55,280 in the second quarter of the year, of which 95.7 percent accounted for cash income and 4.3 percent accounted for in kind income, the Statistical Office of the Republic of Serbia released on Monday.

The highest stake in the available funds was recorded with income from regular employment (46.7 percent), pensions (34.4 percent), natural consumption (4.3 percent) and revenues from agriculture, hunting and fishing (3.8 percent).

Expenditures for personal consumption per household totalled RSD 50,827, among which expenditures for food and non-alcoholic beverages had the highest stake of 39.4 percent, while expenditures for housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuels accounted for 15.7 percent.

The next place on the list of expenditures went to transport expenditures (8.7 percent), other personal objects and services (5.6 percent), clothing and shoes (4.9 percent), communications (4.9 percent), alcoholic beverages and tobacco (4.5 percent) and house equipment and maintenance (4.5 percent).

The data were obtained through a survey on household consumption which is based on the method of keeping a daily record for 15 or 16 days for all personal consumption products and services, and the method of the questionnaire-based interview with the 12 month reference period for durable goods, 3 month reference period for semi-durable goods, agriculture, hunting and fishing and one month reference period for revenues.

The survey was conducted on a sample of 1,495 households in Serbia.
