Ana Ivanovic reaches quarterfinals in Tokyo

TOKYO - Serbia's top-ranked female tennis player Ana Ivanovic advanced to the quarterfinals of the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo after beating Victoria Azarenka of Belarus 6-3, 6-4 on Wednesday.

Ivanovic took a 3-0 lead in both sets, and broke her opponent's serve twice before winning the second set.

Ivanovic will next meet Czech Lucie Safarova, who defeated Swiss Belinda Bencic in another second round match today.
