Judge rejects motion to dismiss indictment against Ivanovic

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - EULEX stated in a release on Wednesday that an international judge rejected as ungrounded the defense motion to dismiss the indictment filed with the Basic Court in Mitrovica against the leader of the Citizens' Initiative "Freedom, Democracy, Justice" (GI SDP) and four more Serbs.

"Three defendants are accused of aggravated and attempted aggravated murder whereas the other two defendants are accused of the incitement to commit these crimes," reads the release.

"Furthermore, one defendant is accused of war crime," EULEX adds.

"The court rejected the objections to the admissibility of evidence entered by the defense as ungrounded. All evidence in the case file was found to be admissible," EULEX stated, noting that the defense has five days to appeal the court's ruling.

Leader of the GI SDP Oliver Ivanovic has been accused of war crime against civilians that was allegedly committed in Kosovo-Metohija in 1999, which calls for a five-year to life imprisonment.

The other four Serbs- Dragoljub Delibasic, the father and son, Ilija and Nebojsa Vujacic, and Nebojsa Lazovic -might also face several years in prison, if the counts of the indictment are proven in court.
