A little more conversation, a little less action

Traders hardly batted an eyelid at the government’s positive result in the parliamentary vote for the budget, keeping most of their attention firmly fixed on developments on the troika front. Accordingly the Greek bourse saw little action, with the benchmark refusing to give any ground and remaining afloat for one more day on Monday.

The Athens Exchange (ATHEX) general index closed at 1,035.08 points, adding 0.20 percent to Friday’s 1,032.98 points. The large-cap FTSE/ATHEX 25 index expanded 0.16 percent to 335.54 points, while small-caps rose 1.08 percent.

Marfin Investment Group outshone other blue chips with its 6.41 percent growth, followed by Viohalco, which climbed 5.73 percent. Motor Oil lost 3.29 percent and EYDAP dropped 2.46 percent.

In total 70 stocks moved up, 44 yielded ground and 22 stayed put.

Turnover amounted to 70.5 million euros, down from Friday’s 104 million.
