Zelenovic, Bajic awarded Order of Knight of Arts and Letter

BELGRADE - Yugoslav Film Archive Director General Radoslav Zelenovic and sculptor Mrdjan Bajic, a full professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts of the University of Belgrade, have been presented with the French Order of the Knight of Arts and Letters at a ceremony in the French Embassy in Belgrade.

The Order of the Knight of Arts and Letters was awarded on behalf of the French minister of culture and communication on Wednesday evening by French Ambassador to Serbia Christine Moro in the presence of a great number of prominent figures.

Established in 1957, it has three grades: Commander, Officer and Knight, and is awarded for merit in specific areas - arts, literature and cultural heritage.

Moro expressed satisfaction that the decorations are presented to Zelenovic and Bajic because of their significant contribution to the presence of French culture in the world and strengthening of the two countries' relations.

They are both long-standing and faithful associates of the French Institute and our cultural action department, she underlined, pointing to the details from the biographies and body of work of the two laureates.

Expressing gratitude for the award, Zelenovic said that this recognition makes him exceptionally proud and happy.

"There are not too many joyous moments in life. Some of them we have already forgotten, but I will never forget this moment today," he said.

Zelenovic said that he always tried to do his work the best he can without ever thinking about awards.

"I am happy that my French friends have noticed this and did me this great honor," he said.
