It is privilege to have Spanovic in Novi Sad

NOVI SAD - Novi Sad Mayor Milos Vucevic met on Wednesday with European champion in long jump Ivana Spanovic and thanked her for staying in her city despite being able to pick any place in the world to live and train in.

It is a privilege for the people of Novi Sad to be able to regularly welcome Spanovic back after winning medals in big competitions in recent years, he stated.

"It seems to me that Ivana flies farther and farther with each new competition," he said.

Spanovic thanked Vucevic for the kind words and added that she had excellent working conditions in Novi Sad.

"It is true that I could train in different places in the world, but I have all the conditions needed in Novi Sad, especially for winter preparations and I have nothing else on my mind other than preparing well for competitions," she pointed out.

Spanovic won the long jump event at the indoor European championship in Prague last weekend by breaking the national record with a distance of 6.98 m.
