Title holder Djokovic off to winning start in Indian Wells

INDIAN WELLS - Indian Wells title holder Novak Djokovic, the current world number one in men's tennis, has got off to a winning start at the Masters tournament by beating Marcos Baghdatis of Cyprus 6-1, 6-3 in the second round early Sunday.

First-seeded Djokovic, who skipped the opening round, defeated Baghdatis after just 59 minutes to chalk up his eight win out of as many encounters with the Cypriot.

In the third round, the Serbian will face current world 68 Albert Ramos of Spain for the first time in his career.

Djokovic, who won the California tournament in 2008, 2011 and 2014, is now chasing his 50th career trophy and his 21st Master Series title.

The prize money of the Indian Wells Masters tournament totals over USD 7 million.
