Certain Type of Birds in Europe Decrease Alarmingly

The number of insect-eating birds, such as beetles and caterpillars, has declined significantly in Europe over the past 25 years, according to a German study.
 
A 13% reduction in the number of insect-eating birds in Europe between 1990 and 2015 was registered.
 
The decline reflects a trend associated with a decline in the insect population.

As of April 1, the wages of Sofia's public transport drivers are increasing, after the Sofia City Council's proposal on March 14 approved the proposal of Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandakova to increase the salaries of the urban transport drivers by 10% from April 1.

Emergency Sirens to Be Tested in Several Cities in Bulgaria

Today, at 13:00, the emergency system will be tested in several cities in the country, the Ministry of Interior informs.

The tests will be in Burgas, Varna, Kardzhali, Montana, Pazardzhik, Pleven, Plovdiv.

Also in Ruse, Smolyan, Sofia, Vratsa and in the 30-kilometer perimeter around the Kozloduy NPP.

 

Karpathos, Kasos declared in state of emergency after rain damage

The regional governor of the southern Aegean, Giorgos Hatzimarkos, on Monday declared the islands of Karpathos and Kasos to be in a state of emergency after they suffered major damage in the heavy rainfall at the end of last week.

Permanent Direct Flights to Be Established Between Lebanon and Bulgaria

Bulgaria Awards Contract for Mi-17 and Mi-24 Helicopters Overhaul

The Bulgarian Ministry of Defence (MoD) announced on 26 March the award of the contract for the overhaul and life extension of four Mi-24V attack and two Mi-17 tactical transport helicopters to local military maintenance, repair, and overhaul company TEREM Holding EAD, reports Jane's 360.
