Countries Along Western Balkans Migratory Route Nominate Contact Points

Countries along the Western Balkans migratory route have nominated national contact points, as had been agreed at the leaders' meeting in Brussels on Sunday.

At the meeting, the leaders of the eleven participating countries and European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker, who had convened the summit, agreed to nominate contact points within 24 hours.

Bulgaria's Main Ruling Party Loses Majority in Sofia Municipal Council

With 75 % of the ballot papers processed, it seems that Bulgaria's main ruling party, GERB, will lose the majority it has enjoyed in the municipal council of Sofia.

Prior to the local elections, which were held in Bulgaria on Sunday, GERB had 33 out of 61 municipal councillors in the capital.

Half of Bulgaria's Regional Centers to Elect Mayors in Run-offs

Half of Bulgaria's regional centers will elect their mayors in run-offs on November 1 after the candidates failed to win majority at the first round of the local elections held on October 25.

Bulgaria ?-Voting Referendum: 73% Said 'Yes' - Partial Count

Electoral officials in Bulgaria have said some 73.51% of voters in a referendum have backed the introduction of e-voting as a valid method in future polls, with nearly three-quarters of ballots processed.

This translates into 1 700 000 "yes" votes, of 6 363 000 eligible citizens.

Interim figures suggest some 26.49% of voters rejected the idea.

According to the latest exit polls, Yordanka Fandakova, the incumbent mayor of Sofia and candidate of the largest ruling GERB party, was reelected to a third consecutive term with 60 % of the votes in the local elections held in Bulgaria on Sunday.

According to the latest exit polls, the incumbent mayors of the cities of Ruse, Stara Zagora and Veliko Tarnovo were all reelected at the first round of the local elections, which were held in Bulgaria on Sunday.

With an astounding 83.7%, Dimitar Nikolov has been reelected for a third term in the Black Sea port city of Burgas as Bulgaria is holding local elections on Sunday, an Alpha Research poll suggests. 

A survey by rival Gallup agency puts support for Nikolov at 83.5%.

Nikolov, as in the previous (2011) vote, was backed by the main ruling GERB party of PM Boyko Borisov. 

Bulgaria Local Elections: Yordanka Fandakova Reelected as Sofia Mayor - Poll

Incumbent mayor Yordanka Fandakova has been reelected for a third term as Mayor for Bulgaria's capital Sofia as the country is holding its local elections on Sunday, a first exit poll by Alpha Research agency shows.

Fandakova has won outright, with support (at 59.9%) that makes a second term redundant, according to the agency.
