S&P Affirms Bulgaria at 'BB+/B', Outlook Stable

Standard & Poor's has affirmed its long-term and short-term sovereign credit ratings on Bulgaria at 'BB+/B', with a stable outlook.

"The stable outlook reflects our view that Bulgaria's fiscal flexibility, arising from still-low general government debt, balances potential risks from the financial sector," the global rating agency said in a statement on Friday.

Bulgaria Seeks Concessionaire for Sofia Airport

Bulgaria has opened a tender for granting a 35-year concession on Sofia International Airport.

The future concessionaire will be required to pay a one-off concession fee of at least BGN 550 M (EUR 281 M), VAT excluded, plus an annual fee of at least BGN 9.96 M for the term of the concession.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov has appointed Ivaylo Ivanov as Deputy Labour Minister, the government's press service informed on Friday.

Ivanov holds Master's degree in Finance and Credit from the Academy of Economics in Svishtov and Master in Law from the South-west University in Blagoevgrad.

Anti-corruption Draft Bill Clears Legal Affairs Committee in Bulgaria's Parliament

The Legal Affairs Committee in Bulgaria's Parliament backed the draft bill to combat high-level corruption proposed by Deputy Prime Minister Meglena Kuneva, public radio broadcaster BNR reported on Wednesday.

The opinion of the Legal Affairs Committee is indicative of the possible outcome of the vote in the plenary hall, according to BNR.

Bulgaria Reports BGN 2.35 B Budget Surplus for End-April

Bulgaria consolidated budget showed a surplus of BGN 2.35 B as of end-April, equivalent to 2.6% of the projected 2016 GDP.

This compared with consolidated budget surplus of BGN 1.07 B, equivalent to 1.2% of GDP at the end of April  2015.

Bulgaria's Government Debt Edges down in April vs March

Bulgaria's government debt totalled EUR 13.34 B in nominal terms at of end-April 2016, the Finance Ministry announced on Tuesday.

Compared with end-March 2016, total government debt was EUR 9.5 M lower at the end of April.

Authorities Prevent 215 Illegal Migrants from Crossing Bulgarian Border

In the past 24 hours, Bulgarian authorities have prevented the entrance of 215 illegal migrants into the country, the interior ministry informed on Tuesday.

Police officers patrolling along the border with Turkey prevented the entrance of 155 illegal immigrants.
