Journalists Sound Alarm over Press Freedom in Moldova

"In the last few years in Moldova, we cannot talk about progress, but more about regression,"  Nadine Gogu, executive director of the Independent Journalism Centre in Chisinau, told the Media Policy Forum in the Moldovan capital on Tuesday.

JusMin Toader: Inmate population decreases in Romania to 22,884, and 12,795 prison staff

Justice Minister Tudorel Toader announced at a news conference on Monday that the inmate population in Romania is on a downward trend, with the number of outgoing detainees exceeding the number of incoming inmates.

He added that the size of the inmate population in Romania is 22,884, while 12,795 civil servants are working in the penitentiary system as special status prison staff.

President Iohannis welcomes Serbian counterpart Vucic

President Klaus Iohannis on Thursday welcomed his Serbian counterpart Aleksandar Vucic, on an official visit to Bucharest, at Cotroceni Palace.

Iohannis greeted Vucic in the Cotroceni Palace Ceremony Hall, where the two national anthems were played after a review of the Guard of Honour.

Half of Romania's stock indices rose b y more than 8% since the beginning of the year, and the BET, which shows the trend of the 13 most traded companies on the regulated market of the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB), rose by 8.49%.
