NHL's Penguins sign Slovenian player Drozg

The general manager of the NHL team Jim Rutherford announced yesterday that Drozg's three-year contract would start in the 2019-20 season.

The 19-year-old will thus join Los Angeles Kings captain Anže Kopitar, one of the best players in the NFL, as the second Slovenian in the world's strongest ice hockey league.

Drozg played the past two seasons for the Shawinigan Cataractes in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. In this season, he was the best forward of the team, scoring 53 points in 54 games - 19 goals and 34 assists.

He led Slovenia to the gold medal in the second division of the 2019 World Junior Championship, being the best forward of the tournament and the playmaker for Slovenia with four goals and eight assists in five games.

Drozg also played for the Slovenian senior national team at the 2018 World Championship as well.
