DeSantis ends election campaign, backs Trump

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, once the leading Republican rival to Donald Trump, ended his election campaign on Sunday and threw his support behind the former president.

DeSantis's withdrawal, after months of weakening support, leaves only low-polling Nikki Haley standing between Trump and nomination as the Republican Party's candidate for the U.S. presidential election in November.

A US election cliff-hanger

Former president Donald Trump triumphed in the Iowa caucuses on Monday. However, this does not mean that he is in the clear, that he has definitively secured the endorsement of the Republican Party. He still has a way to go. The media will do everything they can to give a "horse race" element to this contest.

Donald is still wanted

Support for incumbent President Joseph Biden is at its lowest level for any president in 15 years.

The survey conducted by Ipsos for ABC News, based on a sample of 2,228 respondents, shows that Trump is far ahead of his Republican opponents in key popularity categories.

Landmark Ruling: Trump Barred from Colorado's 2024 Presidential Run

In a landmark decision that could resonate nationwide, the Colorado Supreme Court has excluded former President Donald Trump from the state's 2024 presidential ballot. Citing the 14th Amendment's "insurrectionist ban," the court ruled 4-3, deeming Trump ineligible as a presidential candidate, CNN reported.

Anything but typical: America’s 2024 presidential election

Those with any interest in American elections should pay particular attention to our 2024 presidential election. It is shaping up to be different than 70% of post-WWII elections in our two-party democratic system. Our elections usually present a choice between the presidential nominee of the Democratic Party and the nominee of the Republican Party.
