Bulgaria Comemorates 184th Birth Anniversary of Revolutionary and National Hero Vassil Levski

 Events were held in many places across the country marking the 184th birth anniversary of Bulgarian revolutionary and national hero Vassil Levski. Dubbed the Apostle of Freedom, Levski organized and led a revolutionary movement to liberate Bulgaria from the Ottoman rule. 

US President Biden and Secretary Blinken Addressed Participants in Three Seas Initiative Summit in Sofia via Video Call

"I'm sorry I'm not with you live, but I take this opportunity to say that the United States supports the Three Seas initiative. I thank President Radev and Minister Petkov for hosting this summit," US President Joe Biden said in a video to the participants in the "Three Seas" initiative on July 8.

"With incredible potential to improve the prosperity of this region."

Russia Tries to Thwart Sofia – Skopje Rapprochement

While Bulgaria is making efforts to improve relations with North Macedonia, the Russian embassy in Skopje issued a message that could only be seen as a provocation in Sofia.

24 May is celebrated in several countries, including Bulgaria, Russia and North Macedonia, as the day of the Saint Brothers Cyril and Methodius and of the Cyrillic script.

Bulgarian Socialist Party to Return Cabinet-Forming Mandate on 5 May

 

The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) will return the exploratory mandate to form a government on May 5.
The information was released by head of BSP-Sofia Kaloyan Pargov, emerging from a sitting of the BSP National Council on
Saturday.

"We made the decision to return the mandate, given the current situation and circumstances," Pargov said.

Bulgaria’s First Lady Hospitalized with Cerebral Aneurysm

President Radev's wife Desislava Radeva was admitted to hospital with an aneurysm. The First Lady has had a severe headache since Friday night, but apparently didn't pay much attention to the symptoms. However, her condition deteriorated severely yesterday evening and overnight she was taken to St. Ivan Rilski hospital in Sofia.

Bulgarian Journalist: Borissov Is Afraid, Peevski Is Out, Dogan Ousted

"Boyko Borissov wants to stay in power because he is fears for his survival and has all grounds to be afraid - he took too much from too many people.
