GERB wins the European Parliament elections in Bulgaria.

According to the Gallup International  at 19:00, the ruling party receives 30.5% of the vote. The Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) is in second place with 25.4 and the third place is the Movement for Rights and Freedoms with 12.8.

At the end of the campaigning ahead of Bulgaria's May 26 European Parliament elections, Prime Minister Boyko Borissov's centre-right GERB party has 31.1% support of the voters and the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) 26.6%, according to the results of a poll by Alpha Research released on May 23, reports BNT. 

The electoral support distance between the two main political parties in Bulgaria GERB and the Bulgarian Socialist Party has increased from 1.5% to 2% in favor of BSB by May 8, the latest survey of Mediana sociological agency shows. BSP would receive 31.9% of the votes and GERB would earn 29.9% of the votes if elections were held now.

A week before launching the election campaign, two sociological agencies published forecasts of electoral attitudes.

The study of the Trend Research Center was conducted between 5 and 12 April among 1008 people.

The Bulgarian Parliament's defence committee approved on January 15 the government proceeding for a start of negotiations with the United States on acquiring F-16 fighter jets, reports BNT.

The committee vote was held a day before the Parliament will vote on the mandate for the government to hold negotiations with the US on getting the aircarfts.

People are giving their trust more to the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) than to Boyko Borissov's GERB. This shows a study by the AFIS sociological agency. It was done between November 2 and 7, and 1010 Bulgarians took part in it.

According to sociologists, 23.7% of Bulgarians sympathize with the BSP and 22.2% with the ruling GERB party.

Bulgaria's Prosecutor General, Sotir Tsatsarov, on Thursday said that he had asked the country's parliament to drop the immunity of five opposition MPs and one ruling party deputy to probe them over corruption allegations. 

A new law that will force the country's newspapers to declare their sources of income and details about their funders, sparking fears of a witch-hunt of foreign-funded media and pressure on individual donors to smaller outlets, has been attracting criticism in Bulgaria.

MPs from the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) tomorrow (November 6) as well as the previous days, will not register for the parliamentary meeting, which is scheduled to look at the government's budget. This was announced by BSP leader Kornelia Ninova.

She announced that BSP will offer support to young working families - a one-time allowance of 6400 BGN for the birth of a second child.
