Djokovic halted in Monte Carlo semis

MONTE CARLO - Serbia's best tennis player Novak Djokovic will not defend the title at the Monte Carlo Masters, after losing to Roger Federer of Switzerland 2-0, in sets 7-5, 6-2 in a semi-final match on Saturday.

Federer thus upped his H2H record against Djokovic to 18-16.

It is now evident that a Swiss player will claim the title, as Stanislas Wawrinka defeated David Ferrer of Spain 6-1, 7-6 (7-3) earlier on Saturday.
