Serbia profoundly grateful to Slovenia

OBRENOVAC - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic and his Slovenian counterpart Borut Pahor visited Obrenovac and the flooded residential areas of Bele vode and Sljivici on Friday.

After visiting the town most affected by the recent floods, Serbian President thanked the people of Slovenia, stressing that the citizens and the government of Serbia feel profound gratitude for the help they provided.

The Slovenian president's visit to Serbia was arranged earlier and it additionally demonstrates the strong ties between the two countries, said Nikolic and stressed that everything must be done in order to strengthen these ties even further.

Slovenian president, who previously visited a civil protection unit from his country, said that the tragedy is greater than what could be captured in photos and video footage.

He expressed hope that Slovenian teams helped alleviate the suffering of victims of the floods and announced that Slovenia will continue to provide assistance.

A civil protection unit from Slovenia has been deployed to Obrenovac since the beginning of the floods, and is currently working on pumping out flood water.
