NDS registered, direct party election in October

BELGRADE - The New Democratic Party (NDS) has been officially registered as a political organization, and direct party elections will be held by mid October, NDS leader Boris Tadic told Tanjug on Friday.

He noted that this will be the first time for a party in Serbia to have its leadership elected directly by the party members.

"The NDS is truly coming into being. The party was formed with an aim to address the issues that Serbia is facing and to bring together the experiences of many individuals who have or have not been active in politics,” Tadic said.

He added that the NDS will carefully choose people with prior experience in politics as well as new people, considering that in the past a steep political price was paid for leniency in the choice of office-holders.

"We want new people and we want to shape our policy under new circumstances,” said Tadic.
