Sofia Gets First 20 New Buses Under EU-funded Project

The first batch of 20 new buses for the public transport company of Bulgaria’s capital out of a total 126 have been delivered, Sofia Mayor Yordanka Fandukova has said.

The procurement  had been 100% funded under the European Union’s Operational Programme Environment, state-run Bulgarian National Radio quoted Fandakova as saying on Tuesday.

The remaining 106 buses will be delivered by the end of the year. The vehicles were manufactured in Germany.

Renewal of Sofia’s bus fleet that still includes outdated vehicles has been high on the city hall’s agenda.
