DS: Incapable gov’t costs us EUR 12.5 mil in commitment fees

BELGRADE - The Democratic Party (DS) said Wednesday that loans that had been granted to Serbia but had not been disbursed in the previous year and a half cost the Serbian budget more than EUR 12.5 million.

Commitment fees, charged by lenders to borrowers for unused credit lines or undisbursed loans, cost Serbia nearly EUR 8 million last year and more than EUR 4.5 million in the first half of this year, the DS said in a statement.

The DS said that it expected “the incompetent government” to provide a clear answer to the question of who would be liable for the damage that the government had caused to the citizens of Serbia.

“The time in which everything that is bad can be blamed on someone else is long behind us and the DS demands from the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) to assume responsibility for the disastrous way it leads Serbia and to stop expecting that the price for its incompetence is to be paid solely by its citizens,” the statement reads.
